Which Media Format is Recommended?
CueDB is playing video and audio from your Box, Dropbox, Amazon S3 or other solution of your choice that provides a direct link to the media file. Please use h264 with AAC audio for best performance and browser support.
Note that some codecs will play in some browsers, but others not. Firefox might not be able to play audio if it's saved with PCM audio. ProRes video might only play in Safari and Motion JPEG (M-JPEG or MJPEG) only play audio.
Dropbox has some limitations on their transfers. If you're experiencing problems playing video files hosted on Dropbox, please consider trying Box or Amazon S3.
It is recommended to keep your file sizes down and only use full HD or >4k if necessary for optimal performance.
For Mac users: Select your file and press CMD + I to quickly view information about the codec.
For PC users: Right-click on your file, select 'Properties,' and navigate to the 'Details' tab to find codec information.
Check out Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip for two free and easy to use video converters. Apple's Compressor is also recommended.
